Choosing an RV
You've decided to buy an RV - congrats! That's an exciting decision. Your next choice is a bit harder - which RV to buy? There are RVs out there for every style of camping under the sun. If you hit the internet or walk into a dealership without some idea of what you want, you're bound to get overwhelmed as you sift through option after option. We created the following guide to picking your dream RV below. When you are ready to look at options, visit So Cal RV Rentals & Sales. You'll find us in Corona, California.
What Do You Need From Your RV?
Getting a clear picture of what you need from your RV helps you narrow your search to a more manageable level, which helps you find your dream option sooner! Start with the ideal size of your RV. Are you a lone camper who can curl up in a confined space? Are you a big family needing enough space so the kids don't trip over each other? Or are you somewhere in-between? Figure out how much living space you need to be comfortable and happy. Keep in mind, though, your comfort level driving a big rig. If it's your first RV, you may want to stick to a smaller (and easier to drive) model.
Next, you'll want to consider whether you want any amenities. There are RVs that provide the basics: four walls and a bed. But many people find they want more than that. They gravitate towards the mobile homes that feel more like home, which amenities can help accomplish. Think about whether you are willing to pay extra for special features (such as an HDTV or convertible patio area) and make a list of your necessary amenities.
What Type of RV Do You Want?
Once you have a general idea of what you need from your RV, you can pick which type of RV you want. There are many sub-categories within the world of "RV". Each offers unique benefits to appeal to different camping lifestyles.
Travel Trailers
These are towable RVs, which means you'll need a vehicle to tow them to your destination. There is a huge variety within this category from ranging prices to ranging sizes. They can appeal to anyone from a single camper to a large group. Those new to the RV life can enjoy them just as much as the travel veterans.
Fifth Wheels
These are also towable RVs. They operate with a unique hitch style that requires a tow vehicle with an open or flatbed (such as a pickup truck). These tend to be the largest and most leisurely. They'll cost more, but they will also make for a much more comfortable experience.
Toy Haulers
This category is made up of RVs that are half living space and half cargo bay area. They are used to tow vehicles, materials, and gear from one spot to the other. Powersports competitors, for example, use them to lug their ATVs to out-of-town competitions and spend a comfortable night inside of them (rather than get a hotel). Toy haulers can be towable RVs or motorhomes that don't require a tow vehicle.
Motorhomes
No need for a tow vehicle with a motorhome. These fall in three categories going from largest to smallest: Class A, Class C, and Class B. You enjoy the comfort of a living space without the need of a tow vehicle. But if you do want your car at your destination, many motorhomes can tow a vehicle.
